2-1-1 Helps People

Jim is 72 years old and is the primary caregiver for his wife. Over the last 4 months she has been seriously ill and is now bedridden. With so many issues to consider while coordinating round-the-clock care, Jim was not paying mind to the fact that he was doing laundry around the clock.

That is until he opened his water bill and instead found a cutoff notice. All the extra laundry had increased his bills well beyond what his meager budget could afford.

A phone call to 2-1-1 helped him identify financial assistance for the water bill as well as referrals for respite care providers who could give him a much needed breather from caregiving.
