United Way’s 2-1-1 of WNC (2-1-1) maintains a database of community services available to residents of Buncombe, Henderson, Madison and Transylvania Counties in North Carolina.
Inclusion
Organizations that meet A through C will be considered for inclusion:
Provides a community service to the community at large not just its own members
and has completed a 2-1-1 provider inclusion form
and has a legal status that meets one of the following criteria:
Private, non-profit organizations that offer free, low-cost, or sliding scale fee services.
Governmental organizations (including federal, state, county, and municipality).
Public (non-governmental, quasi-public organizations such as utility service providers and media) that provide essential community services.
Other (unincorporated groups such as faith-based, membership and civic organizations) that offer free, low-cost, or sliding scale fee essential community services.
For-profit organizations that provide essential community services not sufficiently available through non-profit, governmental, public and other sectors (as defined by 2-1-1; including but not limited to mental health, disability, substance abuse treatment, and in-home care services) and that accept Medicare, Medicaid or provide free, low-cost, or sliding scale fee services.
Exclusion
Organizations meeting any of these criteria will be excluded.
Organizations that provide services that are listed by a specialized information and referral program (unless these services are provided by a nonprofit organization or an organization already listed in the 2-1-1 database for other services):
Long term care providers because they are listed by Land-of-Sky Regional Council Area Agency on Aging
Child care providers because they are listed by county child care resource and referral programs
Volunteer opportunities for Buncombe County because they are listed by Hands On Asheville-Buncombe
Organizations that don’t meet inclusion criteria above (Organizations may not list in 2-1-1 solely for the purpose of listing volunteer and/or wish list opportunities.)
Private individuals
Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, veteran status, or sexual orientation
Illegal services
Organizations that misrepresent their services in any way
Inclusion does not signify endorsement, recommendations or ratings by United Way’s 2-1-1 of WNC (2-1-1) or its employees or affiliates. 2-1-1 maintains the right to deny inclusion or remove organizations from its database for any reason. 2-1-1 neither guarantees nor makes any representation as to the accuracy or completeness contained in its resource database. 2-1-1 reserves the right to edit information to meet format, guideline and space requirements.
