Lewis was referred to 2-1-1 for help with some medical concerns. Having had several heart procedures in the past, he feared that his condition was worsening due to chest pain he was experiencing. Lewis is homeless and had not seen a doctor for some time. He did not want to go to the emergency room because he had a pet that would not be cared for if he were admitted for any length of time. The 2-1-1 referral specialist arranged for foster care for his pet and called an ambulance. He was treated for dehydration, frost bite and anxiety. |
